ABOUT STAGES of Networking Championship-2016

AppsFluxus’16 is a National Level Cisco Networking Security Championship & Workshop series jointly organized by Cognizance IIT-Roorkee & Finland Labs TM. All the preliminary rounds will held at Zonal Centers across India in present academic year & the grand finale will be held at IIT-Roorkee

1st Stage (To be held at Zonal Centers):

  • Competitions will held at different Zonal centers through workshop on Cisco Networking Security.
  • All the participants who want to participate in Networking Championship are required to attend the Cisco Networking Security workshop at any zonal center.

2nd Stage (Prelims rounds to be held at zonal center):

  • Just after the workshop a Prelims Rounds of Networking Championship will held at zonal center.
  • Winners will be awarded with Certificate of Merit and will be eligible to participate in Final Rounds which will be held at IIT-Roorkee.

3rd Stage (FINAL Round to be held at IIT-Roorkee):

  • Winners of zonal centers will be called to participate in the biggest final round of Networking Championship will held at IIT-Roorkee
  • Top 3 Teams will be awarded as winners of networking championship & will be awarded & honored by Cognizance IIT-Roorkee.

1. Certificate of Participation from AppsFluxus-2016 Cognizance IIT-Roorkee.
2. Certificate of merit from AppsFluxus-2016 Cognizance IIT-Roorkee.
3. Certificate of Coordination from AppsFluxus-2016 Cognizance IIT-Roorkee.

2-days Cisco Networking Security Course Contents

1st Day Course Content

Networking Fundamentals

  • Basics of Inter-networking
  • Different types of networking devices; Routers, Switches, Bridges, Hubs and others and their working. Connecting different devices with the help of Cables and Connectors.
  • Topologies and Demonstration of Packet Flow in a simple network with the help of Network Simulation Software i.e Packet Tracer.

In depth knowledge of networking models- OSI & TCP/IP model, Cisco’s three layer model.

  • Working of all layers and protocols associated with each layer
  • Data flow according to the reference model
  • Difference between the three models.

IP Addressing Scheme: IPv4 and IPv6

  • What is an IP Address? Why we need IP address?
  • Configuring IPv6 and IPv6 on Routers and Switches

Sub netting concepts: FLSM and VLSM

  • How to divide a network into multiple sub-networks with same range using subnetting?
  • How to save an IP address range with VLSM?
  • Needs and uses of dividing a network into multiple networks.
  • Summarization – How to create a summary of similar IP address blocks?

Router internetworking operating system/ Working of Real Routers and Switches

  • CLI and Modes of router, Interfaces, sub-interfaces and ports on a router
    Basic configuration and commands
  • SSH, DHCP (Configuration on Router), SNMP, CDP (Theory and Configuration), Telnet, Encrypted password

Switching: Communication within a Network

  • Switching Fundamentals
  • Basic Switching Concepts – using switches in a network.
  • How can we break a broadcast domain into multiple Broadcast Domains? (VLANs)
    Spanning-Tree Protocol: Fundamentals and Working,
  • Implementing all the switching concepts on packet tracer and checking connectivity.

Routing: Connecting two different Networks

  • Configuring distance vector and Link-state routing protocols- RIP, OSPF

Securing a network with the help of different types of passwords

What are the other requirement for this workshop?
